Cup O' Cheer
Last Friday, I went with some friends on a Christmas House Walk called Cup O' Cheer. It is sponsored by the Naperville Garden Club. We visited 5 beautifully decorated homes all around the city. We also went to a Gift/Fashion Show at a convention center in Schaumberg. Afterwards, we stopped for lunch at Johnny Rockets and the waiter took our picture - Joyce Smith, me, Ann Winward, and Carol Broadbent. Carol has now left for a new home in Cedar City but will be back to sell their home here. It is a new beginning for the Broadbents and will be for us too, eventually. Glad I have such great friends!

Meili Yuan's Visit
Sister Meili Yuan - recently released from the Hawaiian Mission where she served in the Visitors' Center - has been visiting Naperville. She served with Richard and Diane Jacobs (Rulon's sister and brother-in-law) who were the directors there.
What a delightful girl she is! We got to know her when we were serving in the Young Singles' Ward. She joined the Church and Rulon was the one who confirmed her.
We were glad that she was willing to go on a mission and are sure she was an asset there. It was delightful to read her group e-mails and hear of her experiences.

Another Birthday for Paige!
Another year for our Paige. She has been such a blessing in our lives. Her talents continually amaze us. Just last night she sent us a poem that she is writing to present to the Stake Young Women. It touched us and I am sure it will deeply affect the girls. When she has perfected it, I hope she will share it with everyone. Her experiences in working with young girls with troubles has given her great insight. What a gift she has been to us and will continue to be to many others! Happy Birthday!

Chistmas in Chicago
Yesterday we drove down to Chicago to see the Christmas sights (perhaps for the last time). The Smiths went with us and we had a great time as usual. Here we are in front of the huge tree at Daley Plaza.
Here is the tree in Macy's (formerly Marshall Fields).
Inside a shop at Kristkindlmart - just like in Germany. Rulon visited the markets in Nuernberg while on his mission in Bavaria.
Pretending to be in Bavaria!
Some of the little shops where a vast display of Christmas items and German foods were available.
They bring this market to Chicago each year from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I think they must do very well! Even though it was a Monday and extremely cold, it was crowded with lookers and buyers. (We mostly were lookers.)
