Sapporo Trip February 2012
Here we are in Sapporo with the Donahoes, Watabes, Pres. and Sister Evans and their office couple. We had just been to the snow festival and are now at a restaurant for dinner.
Here is a labor of love! One sweet missionary step mom made gingerbread cookies for each elder and sister in the whole mission! Each one was personalized with hair color, etc. She sent three big boxes of them and none were broken!

Here we are dividing them up into the various zones where they would be distributed.

This bee was on a decorative dish in the mission home!

Another fun touch - artificial cherries that looked good enough to eat.

This is a rendition of the new Sapporo Temple that will be built in the next couple of years. It was on the wall of each chapel we visited.

Sister Evans, a professional musician, was preparing choirs for a special conference.

She played a violin part to the accompaniment that was just beautiful. She arranged the piece and added her own violin part. The number was "I Need Thee Every Hour".

Everyone had their cameras ready ...

Here come the new missionaries or "Green Beans" as they are called. In this mission they are given a "bean shower" where all the older missionaries bring something for each of them that costs 200 yen or less. You should have seen what they got!

Receiving the gifts.

Birthday time!

Finding their gingerbread person!

The Sisters were just delighted and exclaimed over each detail.

One group with their treasures.

Time to go out in the cold and snow after the meetings - this elder is prepared!

So is this cute sister!

Packing up their goodies.

Snow, snow, snow!

This is the temple site!

It is in a beautiful place by a river with a bridge over it.

We even got our own gingerbread missionaries!

Another group of "Beans" with their shower gifts.

Well worn shoes ..

really well worn ! I think this elder needs a new pair! It must be very cold when he walks in the snow and ice.

Cute sister missionaries - love their smiles!

Another group showing their gingerbread people.

A new sister from Highland - Larry and family know her.

Guess what he has in his mouth!

Yes, he ate his gingerbread man's head!

The sisters saved theirs - not some of the elders!

I took these owls that were outsid our hotel window for Heather. See no evil -
hear no evil ...

speak no evil! Just like the famous Nikko monkeys.

Sister Evans accompanied by Elder Donahoe.

She knows how to get them to sing!

Ready for another lunch ...

curry and rice and yummy salad and dessert. Moogi cha (barley tea) is served hot or cold. I don't like it either way!
