Bubba Gump and Misc. Early September '11

We Seniors took a trip to a Bubba Gump restaurant. What a fun evening with great friends!

Here we are at Gibsonville!

Forrest Gump's outfit.

Here he is - waiting for the bus.

There were so many fun signs. Enjoy!

The Donahoes ...

The Gibsons ... The Grames ...

The Richs ...

This was the crowd as we went toward the restaurant - some singing group was in the area and there were tons of young people there. We stood out as being "oldies".

This group must be famous!

The restaurant was in an amusement park area.

This was a big ball that floated on water. Kids were in it and having so much fun!

Natalie Inagaki and Sister Watabe who came to dinner one Sunday - Natalie is leaving for a study abroad year in France.

Ready for another Family Home Evening Potluck - county fair theme.

Three Smurf hats for the Shanks kids.

Here comes a little preschool group - we watched them from the window.

Sister Derricott and Neki Shimi (Sister) - on Neki Shimi's last time to come for lunch before going home!

Mermaid tails made for granddaughters - still waiting for more fabric to finish the rest.

Dorothy - a special project for a special grandchild!

In her little bag!

These are the kimono quilt block squares for our friendship quilt - I embroidered my name on 12 of them.

We exchange blocks on October 21st. It is going to be fun to see all the finished blocks!

Fukuoka Trip End of August '11

At the airport again - this time flying to Okinawa for zone conferences and then on through the Fukoka Mission. There were orchids everywhere in Okinawa! It is like Hawaii in temperature and had a tropical feel.

Ready for more adventures!

Thought this plane was fun - lots of cartoon characters on it.

Here we are with the Margetts and the APs - eating ...

at an A&W! There is a strong military force there with lots of Americans so they cater to them.

These huge fish were in an aquarium at the airport.

We saw these dog/dragons everywhere. One has an closed mouth and one has an open mouth. On one of the zone conference programs, there was a picture of these with the scripture, "Yea, open your mouths and they shall be filled, saying: Repent, repent, and prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths straight; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (D & C 33:10).

I loved this tile roof that we saw from our hotel window. It looked like a patchwork quilt!

Ready for yet another missionary meal.

They gave us missionary portions!

The Relief Society sisters who prepared it all.

Group picture....

The church building...

Posturing ...

Sister Donahoe and me ...

Okinawa is so different from the rest of Japan. Even the dialect is so different.

Here we are at Fukuoka - I posted the Hiroshima pictures in the last blog.

This was a display in the hotel showing the men in long ago times in one of their festivals.

More meals ...

Rulon always has a group of eager missionaries around him. They think he is pretty cool for being so old!

Elder Watanabe and Elder Bingham - the assistants to the President. They were so fun and we enjoyed traveling with them.

And I end with another food picture - this time McDonalds in Hiroshima!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and returned the night of Rulon's birthday - Sept. 1st!
