Well, Dad & I went to serve on our temple shift today and were appoached by President Robinson. He asked if he could see us in his office. This is never a good thing - last time he asked us to be baptistry directors. This time, he called us to be shift coordinators on the 2nd and 4th SATURDAYS (the busiest, most hectic time of the week). We start in April but will be able to shadow the coordinators for a few weeks until then. So pray for us. It is a lot to learn for us oldsters. Of course, my coordinator on my Thursday afternoon shift just turned 89! (She is amazing.)
We also are in the process of getting our house ready to put on the market next week. This means removing all personal items , photos (this was the hardest as I have so many of the grandchildren that I love to see each day), giving away some things and rearranging the furniture in all the bedrooms. The bed has to be in the middle of the "bed wall" with just the essentials. Our house looks so bare now! We had help in stripping it and staging it from a friend. She even recruited her husband to come last night after work and help move some things to the basement. Thank heaven for friends like that!
So life is changing for us. Who knows but what we are being prepared for something in the future that requires a lot of organizing skills. Maybe it is our mission to work here for a while longer. We will see what happens.

Wow! What a neat experience for you. I guess you guys need to be there for at least another little while! Good luck with the house. Wish we were there to help. I guess we'll be helping out a lot when you get out here!
The Lord always has a plan for us, doesn't He! Good luck!! Even though your house is not personalized, I bet it looks great - I think I would love a sparse house. But the collector/teacher/crafter/mother part of me always wins.
Congrats on the new calling, you and Dad will be great. We'd love to have you out here ASAP but as you said, maybe the Lord has different plans for you for the forseeable future.
I don't get the "no personal items" thing. I don't think that ever bothered me when looking at homes. I also don't think I put much thought into which wall the bed was against. Sounds like Ken Carn has developed a bit of OCD since I roomed with him. He was the polar opposite back then.
BTW, I'm making rhubarb crunch right now for dessert and it made me think of you guys.
You and Dad are amazing examples to me of hard work and dedication. I think you will do a fantastic job in your new callings! I think a "simple" house sounds nice too! I am trying to make mine simpler lately and it makes it so much easier to clean! I bet you miss your pictures up though. I didn't realize there was so much work involved with selling and showing a house. It's a good thing we're not moving anytime soon! :) Anyway, congrats on your new callings. You will be blessed for your love and service- I know you will. Good luck!
