Yesterday was our "trial by fire" at the temple. We were the coordinators for the first time all on our own. We had spent A LOT of time preparing the schedules. Rulon stayed up late on Friday night to get them on Excel. We thought we were ready. But no matter how much preparation you do, there are always changes and surprises. When key people don't come, it throws the whole schedule off. We were scrambling to revise things. Thank goodness for seasoned people who stepped in and helped us. Things do work out but sometimes you just don't know how.
I was waiting with two young people who were going to be sealed to their parents. I had them peek through the peephole. They were delighted to see their parents kneeling across the alter. The view from the peephole gives a view that reminds me of a glimpse of what heaven will be like. I was thrilled to be able to participate in such an eternao ordinance. The family was so happy and there was a room full of people there to support them.
We came home exhausted but exhilerated. What a privledge we have to do this work at this time in our lives. In fact, as we were traveling up there, Rulon said that he had a distinct impression come to him. He had been thinking about the time we had spent preparing and the time that we would be spending in the temple. He said that he almost heard, "Your time is now mine". He shared this with me and I felt it was true. This is a time in our lives when we can devote ourselves more to his work in the holy temple. How blessed we are!

"To every thing there is a season." I'm guessing the Lord is satisfied (well, maybe just content) with our activities right now. I'm sure later on we'll be able to do more church service of that type.
Wow, what an incredible opportunity! I have no doubt that you were called by the Lord.
That is wonderful, Mom and Dad! Your service and diligence is amazing to me. Thank you for setting such a great example for your children and grandchildren. How neat that you yourselves are getting a little glimpse of heaven. Thanks for sharing.
