October 30th
We went to an all zone conference in Tokyo yesterday. Here are some of the missionaries we met up with traveling to the Matsudo Chapel.
They are so excited - it is such a diversion from the every day work. They get to see all their old companions and get fed spiritually (and physically)!
There were about 160 elders and sisters there. Rulon presented on "Overcoming Discouragement". Of course, he did an excellent job and some of them truly need to be able to feel hopeful about learning the language, getting along with a companion, finding people to teach, etc. This is a difficult area and they all need a pep talk once in a while.
Mingling with the missionaries. The guy on the right is not a missionary but was invited to come because he will be going on a mission in a year or so. We found out he is Bev and Bob Bruening's grandson - Karla's son! We also met the Hobbs, a new missionary office couple, who are Angela Halliday's parents. She lives in Aurora and used to live in our ward. Small world!
Here is Elder Bates - he is the one whose suit I altered. He wore it just so I could see how well it fit!
Looking out the window of the church - from the 5th floor!
Lunch time!
We had bento boxes - prepared lunches with rice, chicken, pork, curry, etc.
We also got our flu shots. A doctor and nurse came to give them to us. Hope that it prevents so much illness in the missionaries this winter.

Oh, fond memories! Glad everyone looks like they get along so well!
Great memories. I wish we would have had a fun couple like you in our mission though. The Ellsworths left not too long after I arrived.
Looks like a great day for everyone! Looks like you have a lot of elders that adore you guys, too!
It looks like it was a wonderful conference! The elders are lucky they have such a great seamstress to alter their suits for them! The view from the 5th floor of the building was amazing. I'm sure Dad did a fantastic job presenting his talk. I like to look back on it often- it is so inspiring. I'm glad you all had fun. Mom, you look beautiful in your black dress!
