Elder Fudetani and I - Sapporo Mission Conference. He is the son of a friend of mine.

This elder was just told that he was to go home the next day - unexpectedly! He was shocked. Those who were to finish missions in March, April, or May were released as the two missions were combined.

This elder was being loaded up with goodies - they were practicing welcoming the new missionaries.

This is the church building in Sapporo where the historic merging took place.

We ate at an Italian restaurant and this waitress is making us the risotto. Yummy!

Getting his fill!

French toast for the missionaries who were leaving - the Last Breakfast!

Elder Robinson plays with Bella, the mission mascot.

The Sapporo sisters sing beautifully.

Elder Lazenby gets his tie cut as he prepares to leave his mission.

Another one gets cut!

It is a right of passage!

Here I am in the kitchen of the mission where I spent the day making three batches of cinnamon rolls - which disappeared in just a few minutes!

And the Sendai missionaries arrive!

The Heart Attack on the door welcomes them into the Sapporo Mission.

More stuff!

Getting to call home after a LONG week and interesting experiences. Some had quite the stories to tell.
Pure exhaustion sets in!
"Where am I and what is happening?"

The boots and shoes of God's Army!

President and Sister Daniels welcoming the new missionaries.

More scenes of happy chaos!

All rested up and cleaned up - last picture of the Sendai Mission with President and Sister Tateoka.

Elder Choi came to be with the missionaries and to transfer the keys to President Daniels.

Bittersweet time!

Rulon and I with the Mitchell's relatives (the Taylors) who live in Sapporo. Maya and her mom came to help feed the missionaries a wonderful lunch.

This is the Mitchell's nephew's information on the bulletin board in the church.

And from our last hotel - the Royton - a display of dolls!

I hope that missionary in the first picture is tall...otherwise, I think you're shrinking, mom! Looks like the mission handled all the changes very well.
