From our window - looking down at a wedding party at the reception center across the street. The red carpet was new.

Some of the quilts I have made and the RS has tied for the people in the disaster area.
These were made of old napkins that had been in the RS closet for years!
Is there anything more beautiful? Cherry blossoms over the Evans' pond in the back of their apartment.
We were invited to dinner last night for sukiyaki (Japanese vegetables and thinly sliced meat cooked in a pan right on the table).

Here we are - Sister Evans is in the blue sweater.

Here is the table all set ready for the cooking to begin.

We had to sing for our supper - at least some of us did!

Dad went to Kobe on Saturday to help a missionary who is having emotional problems. As he exited the shinkansen, there were photographers and all sorts of news media around. He was impressed that they were making such a fuss over him. However, he found out they were there to meed the head of the mafia who was being released from prison. The mafia headquarters for Kobe is very near the mission home.

Here is another sad picture from the paper. This is how people are living in the evacuation centers.
This is Peter Lyons who is a friend of Rulon's from Boulder City. He has been involved in the talks for helping decide what to do about the nuclear disaster. We visited with Peter in the fall when he was here in Tokyo for other meetings.
Here is another picture from the paper. What a mess we are in here in Japan!
But the cherry blossoms and the beautiful spring weather are lifting people's spirits. Today the Relief Society is going to Uneo Park to view the blossoms. It is good to get together and have such experiences.

Great update. Sorry we missed the Skype again. We just can't hear the ringing from other areas of the house.

I can just picture Dad posing for the paparazzi.

Wow, I now know why you were called to Tokyo -- to rescue those R.S. napkins! Otherwise they would have just sat there, without purpose, for many more years! Oh, and I'm pretty sure Dad's skills are coming in handy too! :-)

Keep looking at those cherry blossoms! With all those sad newspaper pictures, you need some signs of hope!

We love you and continue to pray for all those in Japan!

Oh Jill, I'm still laughing at your comment. :)

Watch out for that mafia guy! The quilts are beautiful, Mom. I'm sure someone will just treasure them.

Loved the pictures again! Sorry we missed our Skype again too, and my phone wasn't around me. :( Thanks so much for trying though! I love the quilts you made out of napkins. Jill's comment was so true! :) Your quilts are beautiful and I'm sure those who receive them will be so thankful! I love that you had that fun dinner too. It reminds me of one of Dustin's favorite places to go- "Tapanyaki" here in Utah- where they grill vegetables and meat in front of you and do cool tricks with their chopping knives! How fun for you! You and Dad look so nice in your picture too- what a beautiful couple you make! It makes me miss you to see that picture. The Mafia guy is funny looking. Maybe Dad showed up in the background of some of his paparazzi pics! :) I LOVE the cherry blossom trees! We have one little one in our yard and it is starting to blossom and reminds me of you guys! I wish I had a yard full of them!
