Families are out for a walk.
The playground was full of happy children.
These are the decorations from our Family Home Evening Potluck that we were in charge of on Monday night.
Here is Rulon practicing to play the opening hymn. It was a wonderful evening - lots of great food and some very inspiring talks from President Stevenson and Elder and Sister Choi who had all just returned from Conference in Salt Lake.
This was the project of the week - school bags for the Kindergarten children who lost everything in the disaster.
And these are quilts that I made which are now up in the devastated area. We tied them as a District Relief Society.
Here we are working on the school bags on Thursday.
This is our Relief Society Branch President - Sister Carruth. She brings me thread, jello and pudding everytime she goes to the U.S.!
Some of the 70 bags that we finished in just a couple of days. They have now been delivered and we hope they will bring joy to the school children.
This is Sister Colleen Sorenson, the District Relief Society President who spearheads so many projects. She has now gone to the States for about three weeks and took some things of mine for me. She is going to leave them at my parents' home in Payson as her husband is from West Mountain. She has been so sweet to me.

This is a picture from the newspaper of a man climbing into a hot bath in the midst of the destruction. Japanese are not shy about bathing!! We thought this showed what is happening up to the north of us so well.
Another picture from the paper - fishing has resumed.
Risa (Lisa) blowing out the candle on her birthday cake. She is a special friend and we had a little party for her on Friday night before we went to the temple. She helped me write and learn to say my testimony in Japanese that I gave in preparation meeting before the session. She said I did well - the people were kind although I know it sounded very choppy and I have a terrible accent. But it was sincere and the spirit was there!
Here she is wearing the signed apron that I made for her.
We took a walk up to Roppongi on Saturday - Spring is in the air (also a bit of rain).
Blue Man Group members were passing out information and posing for pictures on the plaza.
A nap on a beautiful spring afternoon!
Sculpture of a rose - as high as a building!
The theatre is showing Gulliver's Travels.

I'm sure those people there will never forget Elder and Sister Gibson. That sewing machine has blessed a lot of lives too.
Funny that they like their American entertainment too. I saw Blue Man Group perform once. It was very creative and cleverly done.
I think Risa is such a cute girl. Seems like she thinks the world of you guys, too! Fun to see Dad at the piano--I was just telling Dan today that he can play "Flight of the Bumblebee." Dan was very impressed (especially since it had a bug in the title). :) Wish I could send thread, jello, and pudding to you, Mom! The things we take for granted here...
Thanks for all you two are doing to help. I feel like we should be doing so much more here. Let me know if I can call upon our RS to do anything. I recognize that I am not gifted and talented in the sewing department, but I'm sure there is something someone like me can do (besides praying for the people!).
Keep these posts coming! (Is it easy to find the ingredients for German Chocolate cake? Impressive!)
Responding to Jill - no - the cake mix and frosting were a gift to me from a lady who can go to the "Post" and buy things like that. Her husband works for the embassy. She has promised to get me some more this week. They were evacuated to the States for a month but are back now. So I hope that things are getting back to "normal".
Thanks for your posts. All of you good work helps me feel closer to the people of Japan. I'm sure such simple items as a book bag can bring much joy to a young child. Hi to the piano player as well!
Looking forward to your next blog. The naked dude that comes up now really freaks me out.
I love seeing you in your element- sewing! You are blessing so many lives there. Neat that you got to meet Blue Man Group too! I love seeing the creations you come up with. Are you SURE I'm your daughter?!
