April 23 ' 11

It is political season here again. They seem to think that by going up and down the streets with loud speakers blaring accolades, that people will vote for that candidate. Actually, I wouldn't - it is annoying. Here we are again at the Catholic building making rice balls for the homeless.

It was fun to work with others who really want to help.

Since the younger missionaries have gone from Tokyo, we oldsters are taking their place for service.

It was fun - we are supposed to do it again on Monday. The only bad thing is that interferes with my Skyping.
I thought these bathrooms were appropriately labeled in the St. Francis facility!

Here is a fun sign that we saw on one of our walks.

Here is a preschool group at the park getting their picture taken under a cherry blossom tree.

Jo Scoffield and I delivered the backpacks and messenger bags that we made for an orphanage. The staff were delighted. We weren't allowed to see any of the children but we will watch for them in the park wearing our creations.

Here is a sign that gives an indication of the sincerity of the Japanese people. They certainly don't want to inconvenience anyone because of a natural disaster!

I will spread out the pictures of our trip to Busan, Korea this week. We had a wonderful visit and enjoyed being with the missionaries and the Jennings - the mission president and his wife.

Dad observes:
For your sake, Mark, I encouraged Mom to make the entry picture on the next several blogs that of the guy climbing into the hot tub. Sadly, Mom vetoed the suggestion.

Thanks Mom . . . for the veto!

Thanks for the new pictures too. We're looking forward to hearing about the rest of the week! Hope you had a wonderful Easter. I think the Easter Bunny is on his way to our house right now, actually.

Just got a good laugh at Mark and Dad's comments! I have to admit, I was also quite disturbed by him everytime I checked your blog! I bet it's different now that all the young missionaries are gone. Are you sure you don't want to go out trackting for a day just to make up for them? Everyone needs that mission experience!

Dad responds:
Been there, done that, Kim, for 30 months in Bavaria and a number of times during my stake mission responsibilities. My current responsibility is to protect Mom from that experience.

Mom, you look so pretty! I love that hair color on you! You and Dad are doing so much good there and I can't imagine how many lives you have touched. I think those children from the orphanage will look so cute in those backpacks you made them. And the sign at the end is so sweet. They are such gracious, kind people.
