Getting Here and First Day in Japan!

Suitcases by the door - we are waiting for Dan to take us to the airport Last picture in front of our home before leaving for 18 months
After a long plane ride - first to LA - and then to the international airport near Tokyo - here we are after passing through customs
We woke up to hear the garbage truck - this is from the window
Our apartment is very nice - 2nd story-here is the kitchen
Washer / dryer and fridge
My desk
Dad's desk
The couch
The TV
Cabinet in small hall
The bedroom
The bathroom
Can't turn this - but you get the idea
The closet
Looking down the stairs
The entryway - where shoes are removed
Shoe storage
One of many shrines we saw on our walking tour today
Another view
Dr. And Sister Brown-they met us at the airport and have shown us around all day. Too bad they are leaving very soon!
At the Tokyo Temple - we can see the Angel Moroni from our window - it is about 3 blocks away.
We plan on a session tomorrow.
The Temple
It has been a wonderful day with so much to learn. We feel it is a privilege to be here among these people. Everything is so clean and the people are friendly. We know we stick out like sore thumbs but they don't seem to mind. I will describe more later but that is enough for today.

Awesome! Your apartment looks nice. Aren't you glad you don't have to live in tiny (read dumpy) apartments like the young missionaries! So glad to see pictures. Take care and hope to see more soon!

I had the same thought as Kim. Oh, to have had an apartment like that on my mission. And a TV??! What's that all about? Better be careful though; I've heard about the types of shows they have out there -- not very family friendly.

Thanks for the view of your surroundings there!

Looks great, I'm glad you were able to get pictures to us so quickly. It figures there would be a rice cooker in the kitchen. We can't wait to see and read more.

The kids and I enjoyed looking at the pictures. Very tiny. But very clean and nice. How exciting. We can't wait to see more.

It's definitely better than the apartments I had, too! And I think it's cool you can see Moroni from your window! Awesome!!

We are so glad you have arrived and have such a nice apartment to call your home! We were sad that we didn't talk to you before you left, but Mom and Dad told us that you were out of minutes on your phone. We are thrilled that we will get to be a part of your lives as missionaries via your blog. Technology is great! Best wishes as you acclimate and begin your service in Japan!
