September 11th

I had been noticing these posters around for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I found out what it was all about. We happened upon two different groups who were participating in a little parade. Children were walking along following this little cart. Children were beating a rhythm on a big drum.
The adults with them were dressed in hoppi coats (short versions of kimono).
You never know what you will see just around the corner here!

These people seemed to have finished their parade and are enjoying some refreshments!
Isn't she cute (kawaii in Japanese)!
The staff at the Grand Hyatt awaiting limos.
This is Gummi Girl - they have a whole store with Gummi Girl products!
Sign by the subway - DON'T do these things!
Hold the handrails!
And it must be siesta time for the workers in this building - they were all stretched out taking a nap! You may have to enlarge this to see them well. Sounds like a great idea!

Wow- I can't imagine having a nap on the sidewalk in public! I loved the Gummi girl and the children's parade. It seems that celebrating children is a big part of their culture- which I think is pretty cool. Do they still talk about 9/11 in Japan?
