September 20th

Fun activity that we went to on Saturday with some friends. It was a program by a comic in a form called Rakago. It is a type of storytelling that has gone on for centuries.
Here he is. He kneels on a pillow and has only two props - a fan and a little towel. He made those two items into all sorts of things.
His actions and facial expressions were great! He did it all in English and had good pronunciation.
Here is the girl who came up from the audience to help him. She was a great sport and did very well!
Glad we are getting all these Japanese experiences in culture.
Look how the cars park along the street. I'd hate to live in those houses!
These are Japanese pears - a cross between an apple and a pear. They are called Nashi. We like them. These were given to us by Risa and the Bishop who come to eat with us before the temple on Fridays. They always want to bring a gift even though we have told them it isn't necessary. I think it is a custom to give a gift each time you are invited for a meal.
Here is our breakfast cereal - we add a little granola and a half of a banana. Yum!
Of course, Rulon usually has oatmeal every day except for Sat. and Sun. when he has frosted flakes. He makes his own bowl every morning and lets it sit while he showers. Then it is "just right"!

I'd tell Dad to watch out for Goldilocks stealing his oatmeal, but I'm guessing there are very few golden locks to be seen out in that part of the world.

I remember Sedi eating pears like those! Glad you could find cold cereal...it's a staple in our house!
