Busan (Pusan) Zone Conference Visits June 2010

We arrived in Busan, Korea for two days of Zone Conferences. Rulon presents at each conference for about an hour. His topic is Overcoming Discouragement. It is needed! Here are some pictures of our trip.
Arriving at the Mission Home - President and Sister Jennings are wonderful and made us feel right at home.
They made us and American style barbecue!
Sister Jennings in the kitchen. Food was being prepared for the next day's lunch. It was a Korean feast - lots of chopping and preparation went into it! She has two helpers who were working so hard.
There is a small kitchen in the church and so this was how they prepared some of the food!
Sister Jennings and Sister Bagley - the office secretary.
The feast!
We enjoyed the food - so did the missionaries - not much left!
Posing in front of a shrine in Busan.
Sister Brown and I walked around during the time that our husbands were seeing missionaries. We saw so many interesting things.
I loved the shapes of these trees.
Hedges of roses were everywhere.
Such interesting doors.
The next day we traveled to another conference in Daegu (Taegu) We went through about 18 tunnels - they just dig through the hills!
Interesting teacup statue we saw.
From the window of the van.
I loved the flowers that were along the roadway.
Instead of hiring someone to wave a flag, they have these mechanical "men" who warn you to be careful.
Lots of fun things to see on our trip.
These are the rice krispy treats that Sister Jennings makes as comfort food for the missionaries. Since marshmallows aren't readily available she uses this recipe. Delicious!
1 c. peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup Karo syrup. Heat until sugar is dissolved - then add about 8 cups of rice krispies. Try it!
Korea had so much more color on the buildings! I loved this one.
Koreans drive on the "right" side of the road unlike Japan. Here we are in the van with one of the elders who was navigating.
Arriving!
The church.
More of the colorful buildings in the neighborhood.
Lanterns for a special event -maybe a sale??
You just never know what you will see!
By a big turtle statue.
More of that beautiful building.
The second day's lunch was catered. We have to eat with chopsticks! I am getting the hang of it.
Dad getting ready to present.
This is where we were - I think they call it Taegue also.
