GUESS WHAT I GOT?!!!

This was our adventure of the day. We rode the bus to a store called Jusco (kind of like Target) and purchased a new sewing machine for me!!! Here is how the girl wrapped it - so carefully and with nice handles to carry it back on the bus.
It only cost 15800 Yen! (That is $158). I am learning to look at the price tags and automatically move the decimal point in two places (three places in Korea).
I picked out some fabric also - it is sold by the 10 centimeters. So if it says 38 Yen per 10 centimeters - it is actually $3.80 a meter - a bit over a yard.
I had to take a picture of this for the kids. Looks like Woody and friends really did get sent to Tokyo!
Our friends, the Dimicks took us to Jusco. They have to take the bus everywhere and are very familiar with all the stops. They will be leaving in August. They have been here making videos about the Church in Asia. They have one more thing to do in Guam. He has been instrumental in filming all the church videos - like Legacy and The Testaments. He also has been a mission president in Alabama. We are with some powerful people!

Here is a little school boy in his uniform. He was coming home from school all by himself. He shouted, "Thanks for the ride!" (in Japanese) as he got off at his stop.
OK, Ty, Scottie, Mason, and Braydon - don't you wish you could wear cute little uniforms like this to school!
Last night we had a FHE with all the senior couples - temple missionaries included. It was a luau. Here is the table of food.
On the way to the temple we pass these statues. I finally got pictures of them.
Two wise old men.
Browns left us yesterday. It was quite hard for them to say goodbye as they have loved it here. Everyone in the office building came down to wish them well. They say it is like running the gauntlet. On Friday we say goodbye to another couple, the Riches, who have been here many years. They let the senior missionaries come over and take their food. What generous people!
The sisters in the office and some of the rest of us.
It is hard to see the Browns leave - they have been so wonderful to us.
Dinner at a little Indonesion place on Saturday night. We walked for about a half hour to get there.
Another familiar sign.
Dad on the overpass on the highway. He walked over it while we were waiting for one of the couples to come.
Another strange sign that we passed. I couldn't get it all in but it doesn't make sense anyway!
Well, I am off to try out my new machine - let's see what I can do!

Mom without a sewing machine is akin to Dad without a book on LDS church doctrine. We feel the world is now back in balance. I'm sure you'll do wonderful things with your new toy!

You guys are going to be in great shape with all the walking you do.

Dad looks just as happy to get you that sewing machine as you are getting it. So sweet. Enjoy it! I'm sure many people are going to begin benefitting from it here soon!

That little boy is so cute! So polite too!

I was wondering how long it would take for you to get a sewing machine! Have fun...maybe you'll get to make some Kimonos or something!

Congrats, Mom! I know what you'll be spending your time doing now. I wish I could get that excited about a sewing machine. Scottie had a stuffed animal that needed repair and it took a lot of nagging on his part for me to fix it. He was shocked that I actually do have the skills -- I just don't love it! So, my sacrifice, on behalf of your missionary service, is doing without our seamstress and getting up the courage to do some more mending. Wish me luck!
