Imperial Gardens (Part 2)

Just look at these trees! The "Keep" where valuables were kept - and lookouts posted.
The sign telling about the keep.
This blond was in such contrast to all the dark haired people - I had to snap her picture.
Brother Watabe - always ahead of the group!
Showing the construction and plans.
Look how huge the stones were!

The guardhouse - for workers and families.
Fish statue - so Japanese!
A swan on the moat.
And turtles!
Dr. Seuss trees against the skyline.
The famous bridge pictured on many postcards.

This place is huge! We didn't get to go near where the Emperor and Empress live - this was just the public garden. Apparently on New Year's and on his birthday (April 29th) they come out and wave to the people.
A view of the huge stone walls.
This little girl was only interested in picking up the gravel. Isn't she beautiful!
Brother and Sister Watabe - the area executive secretary. He told us wonderful stories of his father who first joined the Church after the war. Amazing!
Here we are by the bridge.
People from all over the world were there - I loved this mother and her child.
It was a very windy day! The Japanese use umbrellas to keep off the sun also.
Another view of the bridge.
And of course, right outside of the gardens are the concession stands!
The fountain we saw as we were leaving this beautiful place.
What a wonderful Saturday afternoon!
