Tonki's and Ginza Visit

Since the temple is closed for a couple of weeks and we didn't have to work there Friday night, we decided to go out. We had heard so much about Tonki's. It is famous here in Tokyo for the pork cutlets. Here is the production line. The huge kettles are the frying pots. The breaded cutlets are placed in them and lifted out where they are cut into pieces. Another person places the shredded cabbage and tomato on the plate. They are then delivered to the customer with a hot towel to wipe your hands on and a bow. Soup and rice complete the meal. You can have seconds on everything except the meat. It was a delicious meal and a cultural experience. These people were advertising the pichinko parlor - they couldn't help but be noticed!

Looking down at the street at night.
A poster in the subway.
July 7th is Star Day - all over the trees along the streets were slips of paper that you could write a wish on and attach to the tree. We all made a wish!
They really use the buildings for ads.
We also went to Ginza - used to be the most expensive realty on earth. Pretty ritzy!
Here is a palm reader right on the sidewalk.
These are donut like cakes in a shop we passed.
When cut, the inside looks like rings on a tree.
The Goths, Rulon and part of Sister Watabe.
This sign announces that during certain hours, only women are allowed in certain subway cars.
Ready to get on the subway.
We saw this sign and had to get a picture of the Watabes by it.
Sister W. and Rulon.
This is our destination - the HeLoh (Hiro-o) stop which is right near the church office building and very close to our apartment.
